… I did a little homework, fed the animals, and then got on with the Beaufort—quite well. zpt zdc zcf zmd
After lunch we did some gardening, first planting potatoes where Margaret’s and my gardens used to be, and then burning. zdc zfd
… The raid last night was very heavy, on Coventry. We again did Kiel. zar
Thursday 10th
… I took two photos of rabbits, finishing the film. … I developed the film, quite successful, a lovely one of Glatting. zph
After lunch I read and tried to print with the dark room lamp. It took 20 mins, but then Mommy suggested the Aladdin, which is obviously the thing to use. zph
I read Eileen Bigland’s ‘Laughing Odyssey’ about Russia, rather funny. zbf zru
Friday 11th
… We saw the first bluebells out and some anemones. zwl
After lunch I set my camera on top of the large hawthorn hedge with the ball and socket ‘tripod’ and tied a bit of string onto the shutter release hoping to photograph a sparrow. I lay down about 12ft away reading ‘Lawrence, by his friends’. One came between me and the camera, otherwise I had no luck at all. … zph zwl zbf
Tuesday 15th
Up earlier than usual as we are going to London. … Our train did not arrive until 11 o’clock, so we arrived about 10 mins late at Fry’s ztv
