I heard from Mommy in the morning. I got the robin photos (quite good) and my Identity disc. All well and busy. Also Punch. zfl zph zwn

 

Thursday 18th

… In biology we … saw little transparent fish which we don’t know what are. We saw a small crab changing its shell. zwl

After singing, in which I sang as badly as I could or not at all, Mr. Hales said that I needn’t have turned up, and that in future I could bring a book and read. Out of the choir!!! … zmu zmb

 

Sunday 21st

… In the afternoon Wood and I went along to the Head, with the intention of stalking F and F. We didn’t find them. We did find the signallers however, and I was able to read their messages. I was better than two of them, who couldn’t read it at all (S and W), and A told me various things. I think I will join them when I’m in the Corps [school cadet force or JTC]. zwk zsg zct

 

Monday 22nd

… In MT I made a box to keep the burnet Moth caterpillars in, because they hatched this morning. They have nearly, if not all, come out and are about this size — . We gave them some ragwort. We now have to wait about 5 weeks.  zcf zwl

 

Tuesday 23rd

… Wood, A and I bicycled into Newquay for a rehearsal. The play is going to be the ‘Merchant of Venice’ and it is in the town theatre. We spent most of the afternoon watching, but in two scenes we had to stand absolutely still on the stage. Our only movement is one bow, and walking off the stage once. The actors are all jolly good …  zcy zth

The budget announced: 8/6 in the pound, everything 20% more govt. tax, luxuries up much more. Jolly good but pretty tough … zep
