Thursday 2nd

Friday 3rd

… S there already. E not coming, P instead. … Boat called Lullaby … P. Hunter and sons, near Potter Heigham. Went to Hickling Broad in the evening, spent the night. S and I sailed on the broads in the sailing dingy. Mucked about with S’s Webley air pistol. Good fun. P jolly decent … zol zbo zwp

 

Saturday 4th

An absolutely marvellous day. Before we started we scuttled two milk cartons with the air pistol. P and I started off first in the dinghy. Joined others when we reached the main river. We frightened two swans with the air pistol. While getting under a bridge S fell in up to his waist. I took a few photos of the boat etc. We visited a heronry in very marshy ground but found no inhabited nests. … zwp zbo zwl

Had crab for supper. Tried to get slugs for air pistol in town, couldn’t get any as mangy old ironmonger had just closed and wouldn’t let us have any. Last and very good Garrison Theatre. zfd zwp zsh zrd

Awful mess up over Norway, we’ve lost S and Central. Due to [behaviour of the British] Cabinet etc. zlb zpn

 

Sunday 5th

I was very sick many times last night at about 12 o’clock onwards because of the crab. Began to feel better after a bit. zil zfd
