Tuesday 23rd

… After lunch, I saw a sparrow-hawk pounce on a sparrow in the barnyard, which was kind of it, as I happened to be looking at the time. … at 4 o’clock three girls came to knit. In the evening I started a child’s mitten, doing about 2″ of ribbing. zwl zcb zcf zch

 

Wednesday 24th

Daddy and Henry Bassadone arrived at about 2 o’clock, and a bit later we went out for a short walk, getting a Christmas tree, which we decorated after supper. We are not having (m)any presents this year. zfl zrg zcl

 

Thursday 25th

Christmas day—although we are having no presents, I got 3 pencils, a rubber, 2 prs shoelaces (Nora), woollen garters, socks, a magnifying zcl zfl
