… Daddy experienced one of life’s greatest joys—listening to a nightingale while lying in a hot bath. I heard three I think later on—lovely them being so near this year. zfl zwl zem

… a lazy afternoon by Daddy’s fire reading Lilliput and ‘World Education in Science and Ethics’—a grand book. Good statistics too; about juvenile delinquency—the number per 1000 in Liverpool for state schools was 21, C. of E. schools 35, and Roman Catholic schools 45. zbf zey zrc zgk

… I fluted, and Mommy and Daddy came out to my house, and we walked to the deserted orchard—where there were fewer orchids than we expected, most being very early this year.
