We passed a cement lorry which had been burning for two hours, and had collapsed in the middle and was setting in the cement … We stopped at a guest house in Glastonbury in Somerset. zmo zac

 

Tuesday 25th

In the middle of the night they had their first air raid warning here. The guest house proprietors and several children (and a baby who screamed intermittently for the whole 3½ hours) ran about the  house shouting ‘Air Raid! Air Raid!’ and all the children got awfully excited. Got to sleep after about 3 hours. zar

We looked at the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, a terrific building about 500 yards long …We arrived for tea at Mawgan Porth where we had a bathe, then went to Newquay. The country is marvellous and the hotel very comfortable. zss
